Need Some New Books to Read?

booksWhen I start reading a new-to-me genre and discover that I absolutely love it, I am quickly overwhelmed.

So maybe you stumbled upon or had a good friend suggest an author or books to you. And you devour it… and then everything else that author has written. Now you’re in trouble. You’re out of books. The author won’t have another book out for months. What do you read next?

I was lucky in that I had Rinda. She offered me that first bump in the form of an amazing series, which she talked about in her blog post just last week. And she got me addicted. But she was kind and she continued to supply me with a steady stream of books and authors so I didn’t have to go long between books.

And once I’d read a few dozen books, I felt confident to strike out on my own and discover my own favorites.  I’ll admit that I don’t think I’ve managed to suggest a book to her that she hasn’t read yet in the m/m romance genre, I’ve decided to keep trying.

While Rinda has already supplied you with a killer list here, I am going to try to include a few books that I’ve loved that aren’t also on her list.

In the Middle of Somewhere by Roan Parrish

I loved this book. Daniel is so wounded and dysfunctional when it comes to trusting and relationships. Really, the man is a trainwreck at times but so good at the core. I loved watching him fall in love with Rex and I so loved watching him interact with his best friend, Ginger. There are some questions left hanging in the air at the end of the book that have left me hoping that there will be another in this world, but you do conclude with a sense of satisfaction and HEA.

Behind Iron Lace by Mercy Celeste

Ahhh… New Orleans. That is a magical city with interesting history and a hypnotic accent. I love the mystery and the beauty and the accents. I fell in love with the troubled Caleb and the all-too-sweet Darcy.  Your heart soars and breaks for them. And then you just have the allure of New Orleans. I’ll admit that the “I Love You’s” came a little fast for me (if you’ve read my Dark Days series, you know I love a slow, drawn-out process of getting to tender feelings), but there was just something magical about Caleb and Darcy getting their happily ever after.

Try by Ella Frank

I know. I know. Rinda mentioned this one, but it really is a favorite for me too. When I started this book, I HATED Logan. Really. I hated Logan. I thought, how could I possibly read a book about Logan falling for someone? He can’t possibly love anyone besides himself. And then in the next chapter, he met Tate and I freaking melted.  And when I finished Try, I immediately purchased Take and then Trust. Logan and Tate both screw up in amazing ways but they find their way back to each other and it’s beautiful.

So while you’re waiting for Shiver to come out next week, you’ve got plenty of suggestions to tide you over. I’ve got an enormous stack of books waiting for me on my Kindle. I’m sure Rinda and I will be back with more reading suggestions soon. And if you haven’t had a chance yet, you can still pre-order Shiver.  The book will be out October 27.
