Surviving Release Week

Shatter is out in the world and it is thrilling. Rinda and I have been celebrating and doing various dances of joy. The book is done. After many months of labor, the book is done!

But then you reach the point where your brain moves past the celebrating and you start to realize that readers and reviewers have your book. Your baby…. And … they’re reading it…

And then you start thinking….

What if they don’t like your book? What if they don’t like the things that Snow has done? What if they don’t like Jude? What if they hate you for doing that one unspeakable thing that we won’t speak about cuz it’s spoiler-y but you know what I’m talking about…

This is when Jocelynn’s (patent pending) Super Awesome Survive the Release Plan comes into action for surviving release week.

The first step is to find some wine. Or hard alcohol. Or maybe even some beer. The point is that it’s really never too soon to start drinking. The alcohol will start to numb and gently suffocate the anxiety.

The second step is to have a friend you can reach out to. For the strange hours of the night, I lean on my husband, but during the day, Rinda is my go to. We’ve exchanged email and texts. I have a feeling there will be random phone calls that help to relieve that building sense of panic if you should need to stop drinking briefly.

A third great addition is chocolate. I can often replace step 1 if you don’t like or drink alcohol.

And the final most important part is to simply get away from the computer and the Internet.

Go outside. Read a book. Breathe deep and relax. Shatter is in safe hands with readers.

We hope that you’re enjoying the book. The first short story for Snow and Jude will be out next month and more updates will follow regarding the rest of the series.

From both Rinda and me, thanks so much for reading!
